MJ Parson

I'm a current third-year student at Rochester Institute of Technology (Go Tigers!), studying Software Engineering and Computer Science.

Coming from a small town in PA, I want to make a name for myself. Keeping up with the current tech (Especially web-based creation), testing myself with learning new languages through projects, and plenty of new ideas from friends in the industry have kept me on my toes, wanting to try whatever the next big thing could be.

Academics

I am currently attending Rochester Institute of Technology in their Software Engineering B.S. program. Notable classes that have helped me along this career path include:

    • Discrete Mathematics for Computing: Beginnings of Combinatorics, binary logic and proofs.
Web Engineering: Basics of Full-Stack development, including Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS.
Project Managment: Development of Agile methodologies, group project dealing with process.
Personal Software Engineering: First experience using C and C++, pointers, and varied problems and projects.
Human Centered Design and Computing: Iconography, hueristics, and lots of experience creating mock-ups of mobile and desktop designs.
  • Skills

    • Python
      Java
      Javascript
      Angular/React
      Bootstrap
      Agile and Process Methodologies
      Version Control
  • Projects

Some of my favorite projects have been in group settings. Working with different people, with different skills and levels of experience, is an integral part of being a software engineer.

Most projects I have experienced in schooling utilize either Python or Java. The most interesting, however, also incorperate user views, databases, and other full-stack elements.

While I specialize in web development, learning new techniques and systems is something I strive to do.
